Samsung starts mass production of 5th generation 96-layer V-NAND

Samsung has announced it started mass production of its fifth generation V-NAND. The chips are only available in a capacity of 256 gigabit (32 GB). Samsung claims that its latest generation V-NAND chips are up to 40% faster than the previous generation.

While that’s nice and all I won’t be needing to upgrade from my Samsung 850 EVO 250GB (SATA) anytime soon which I had since May 2015 as here it is over 3 years later and it’s still one of the better SATA based SSD drives one can use.

EDIT: I got a hold of a Intel 545s 128GB SSD for only $31.99 about a week or so ago which was a great price for a quality product and gives a nice performance boost to my 10 year old laptop. basically that’s the best SSD I have seen for around $30 which is about the most I feel comfortable paying for those 120-128GB range SSD’s.
