Nice one, Imkidd  - my mum doesn’t know what to get me for Christmas, so I’ve already hinted at this drive - that link will come in handy

We already have one (250GB) SpinPoint, and it’s a lovely quiet drive.

$109.99 with free shipping… that’s hard to pass up im seriously considering getting one myself cause it seems to be one of the faster drives in transfer rate etc etc.

plus not to mention my current 850GB total space (250/200/400) is running really thin. lol

EDIT: just ordered one

Is this samsung hdd the best out of all the 1 terabyte hdd’s out there?

just put one intoday that i got from mwave
using it for storing flac files to write to dvd

i seen a couple reviews on it on tomshardware ( http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/samsung-overtakes-a-bang,1730-8.html ) etc etc… page 9 of that review shows transfer rates (read/write)

but basically in transfer rates it’s pretty much the highest overall but it lacks seek times compared to some of the other drives… but for me im mainly concerned with transfer rates and since it’s only 3 platters vs everyone else’s 4+ it generally uses less power and is quieter and ‘probably’ more reliable since less moving parts etc etc… & @ $109.99 that’s pretty hard to pass up considering it’s overall speed/price/storage

p.s. i aint got mine yet in mail but it should be here on Monday according to ups tracking… so in other words ill have it in about a day and a half-ish from the time i write this message… cant wait til i get it cause once i install it ill have a total of 1.85TB (250/200/400/1000) in storage in my PC… cause as of now im struggling on free space… so once i get that 1TB hard drive, ill be golden on not running out of space for an easy 2+ years… cause the last hard drive i got was a 400GB one and that was basically about 2 years ago… so i figure even if i burn up 1TB quicker than i expect… i still think it will last me a easy 2+ years before i start having space issues again.

just installed the Samsung 1TB hard drive about 5hours ago… so far so good

seems to be a nice performer when transferring files from one of my other hard drives to the 1TB hard drive.

here is a pic i took just after formatting it… so as you can see a little over 1TB in storage
