Samsung SH-S223L/BEBS vs. NEC 3500

Hello,

Haven’t kept up with burner technology in a while. I have an old NEC 3500A that works wonder with the Yuden 02 DVD+R 8x media. Now I have a chance to pickup a Samsung SH-S223L/BEBS. I’ve been told that the Samsung is a lot lighter than the NEC.

The NEC 3500A is an average reader. Is the Samsung’s reading performance near the top of the field? How well does this Samsung handle the Yuden 02 media, quality wise, at 4x or 8x? Can I do the quality scan with the Samsung? Any modded firmware?

Any other pros n cons between these two drives?

TIA,
F

I have a SH-S223C and TY T02 is not in its firmware and burns at 4X and not a very good Quality when scanned on a Liteon IHAP 422-98.

 That’s not really a recommendation  .
