<1mth old Samsung SH-S223C SATA
Updated to SB03 firmware (problem exists before firmware update)
Seasonic 520W modular PSU
Reads burned CDs and pressed CDs without any problem
Reads pressed DVDs without any problem
Unable to read burned DVDs, both +R and -R. The DVDs were not burned with this burner. They were burned from multiple sources, with multiple DVD brands. DVD brands include Imation, Verbatim, and Maxell. Burners include SH-S223F, not sure about what the other discs were burned with.
I have tried reading the DVDs in both WinXP and Ubuntu without success.
Booting is unable to proceed with a burned DVD in the drive. The drive seems to be continuously trying to read unsuccessfully from the DVD. Booting only proceeds when the DVD is ejected.
There is no problem with these DVDs, they can be read from other drives.
I have read and considered some of the solutions in this thread:
I believe it's not a software error. I have checked all the cables internally are not loose and connected properly.
The only thing I have not tried is unscrewing the drive and cleaning the lens (I'm afraid of killing the warranty, and I'm not very good with hardware)
Is this a sign of faulty hardware?
