Any thoughts?

Media = Memorex DVD+Rdl

Never had an issue with drives, computer, or decryption.

First time attempt to burn with Dual-Layer discs.

Please help.

Your main problem is your choice of media. These Ritek made DL disks are not particularly good, and don’t seem to match up well with your burner.

The only DL media that is widely available and good enough quality for us to recommend is sold under the Verbatim brand.

I suggest burning at 4x even with the Verbatim, and use ImgBurn, which is the updated burning engine from DVDDecrypter. ImgBurn is free to download and use. www.imgburn.com

If you need some guides for burning DL media with ImgBurn, look here: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showforum=4&

As Kerry stated it’s your media, I have the Samsung SH-S203N with the SB02 firmware and have no issues using Verbatim, and I have found this drive can be picky when it comes to cheap media such as Ritek :Z
can’t even use sony single layer media

Not weird. The software you were using to burn is old and out of date. IMGburn is kept up to date and bugs are fixed regularly. Hence the difference. :iagree:

Stuck again… all nighter cuz of it too… ]=

I have a movie that I’m trying to back up.

I have successfully completed one task this morning, but need one more thing from you guys… just real quick.

I’ve scoured the net attempting to find:

Method to ADD Layer Break to image from PTP recorded disc.

ImgBurn worked on the previous OTP disc, but will not insert layer break when ripping PTP disc to image.

I have tried “Tools >> Create MDS File” with the same break as the PTP disc.

The error message I recieve is:

Optimal L1 Data Zone Start LBA: None Found! (VTS_07)

This image has not been mastered correctly for burning onto a double layer (OTP Track Path) disc.

None of the cells meet the ‘DVD-Video specification’ criteria for a potential layer break position.

Do you want to continue Anyway…

I can see what you’re saying. On the contrary however, I’ve had absolutely no issues with Single Layer Media. I only use Sony (DVD-R 16x).

My new issue though is how to take an PTP DVD-ROM ripped to an image, make ImgBurn burn it with a layer break in OPT.

I’m assuming that I’ll try the “2075152” as the break point.

I’ve tried to rip with DVD Shrink (set to NOT remove layer break), CloneDVD, and ImgBurn to an image. Each time I try to burn it, I get the message above ^^.

Right now, I’m going to try building everything from scratch. Copy DVD (vob, ifo, etc.) to the hard drive. Create an mds from those files… hoping that ImgBurn will allow me to specify the break. Then burn the image to disc.

Hope I’m not too far off base here… Don’t know what else to try… but this needs to get done by noon… and I’ve been on it for quite some time…

I don’t know how many cigarettes I went through tonight… but my breath reeks of SUCCESS!!!

I took the PTP disc:

 • Ripped all files to my hard drive.
 • Used ImgBurn to make an image (.iso) of those files
 • Selected Burn Image to Disc in ImgBurn
 • Choose 4x
 • When prompted, after “Writing DVD Book” (or something like that, Choose Revert to VOBU/ECC…
 • And OFF SHE WENT!!!

Done. Finally… Now all I really need to do is watch it in its entirety to ensure that is all available for replay on a standard player. I did verify that all menus work properly.

THANK YOU.
