Samsung started advertising a USB 2.0 model. The attached scan image of the ad is from pcbee.co.kr.
SH-W162? What does the "H" stand for? Doesn't sound like a Toshiba-Samsung product anymore.Do you have any more information on this new drive? I hope they've given up on Mediatek, at last.
Samsung never said they were considering anything other than Mediatek chipsets for their future DVD writers. I always post what I can before being asked so asking me about what I know won't help anymore.
Here's one of the latest TSST drives but from Toshiba side this time.
SH-W162 where the H means Half High
SE-W164 where the E means External
Both drives will be recognized in windows as: TSSTcorp CD/DVD SH-W162C
The drive is using the MediaTek MT1888E chipset.
