Samsung OPTODISCR016 16X DVD-R

As some of you know , I’ve had great experience with OPTODISC R16 DVD+R under Samsung Pleomax brand .
Few hours ago a friend of mine who owns a PC store gave me a 10 disc spindle of Samsung Pleomax DVD-R OPTODISCR016 media for free to test it and tell him whether to get more of it for his business or not :slight_smile:

Here are the results I got with it with Samsung 203B @12X (reverted back to 8X though) and Benq 1640 @8X

What do you think ? Should I tell him to get more for his business or get ALL he has for myself ? :bigsmile:

I already picked up 250 Samsung Pleomax OPTODISCR016 discs :iagree:

I took all the 200 discs he had for ~0.28$ per disc :slight_smile:

I don’t know why my MCC004 (Prodisc or CMC) or even T02 scan like this . Maybe I am lucky with midrange media only :bigsmile:

Except for the horrible looks for these discs , they are awesome specially in Jitter which is way better than the DVD+R OPTODISC R16

We had a discussion in the past about the worst looking discs ever made and I think these were the worst with the same “gay” comment :bigsmile:

But still they are excellent media :clap:

many of the Optodisc line (at least that mid) produce burns similar to this. Agent009 has posted quite a few Optodisc burns, and they have looked impressive on his burners. :wink:

I just bought a 10 disc spindle of “sky” branded 8x DVD+Rs.

I hoped to get some of their own “swiss made” (crap-) media, beause I wanted some of these for “nostalgic” purposes, but what I got were genuine Optodiscs.

And this is the first disc of the spindle, burned 8x with my Pioneer DVR-112D @ 1.24L

No need to comment that awesome burn :clap:

I would absolutly buy more of them, but they only have 10 discs spindles and theyre expensive as hell. I would have never bought them if they werent “sky” branded.

I would pay a lot to get some of these swiss made sky cd-rs again :frowning:

I don’t know how could OPTODISC makes such excellent quality discs without being one of th major “quality” DVD media suppliers :confused:
The discs scan exceptionally well , seem very consistent (16X -R +R and newer 8X -R +R ) , most of my OPTODISCS scans hav <200 PIF (-R) , <50 PIF (+R) , <10.000 PIE and jitter with -R is awesome .

Too bad OPTODISC went out of business :sad:

I’ve recently bought some of these for testing purposes, but haven’t tried them yet. When I do I’ll post here. :slight_smile:

It is very good in determining worldwide consistency :bigsmile:

I also want to add : burner compatability , I pluged my Pio 111L to test it with the same MID and it also burns extremely well as it did with 20A1P/1640/203B :

I’ll burn a few tomorrow if I can remember :)…be interesting to see what my Pio 115D makes of them. :slight_smile:

I know with the 8x Pleomax DVD+Rs, my LG E10N hated them, so it’ll be interesting to see how it likes the 16x ones.

Edit: Mine came packaged in 5-packs in DVD cases.
