Hi,

I got some Samsung 48X silver CDRs - Got the following ATIP:

ATIP: 97m 15s 37f
Disc Manufacturer: NAN-YA Plastics Corp.
Reflective layer: Dye (Short strategy; e.g. Phthalocyanine)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f / LBA: 359849)

Good so far - but any experiences with this brand?

Looks like Samsung reduced the quality of all products for cost purposes .Recent Internet reviews of TFT monitors,Television,CDRW,various electronics gadgets and parts…are not good now in tech specification but only in price/quality…

Also info for recent Samsung Cdrs :

Hi,

Do you know in which country these CD-Rs are manufactured?

This week I saw Samsung 48x CD-Rs at a local shop
and on the box (with 10 slim cases) was a Made in Singapore

Is Nanya Plastics producing in Singapore, too

Andy

Don’t know about NanYa CDR’s but their CDRW discs are very bad.

I’ve also heard of Nan-ya CD-Rs being sold under the names I/O Magic and Hi-Val (I think they are the same company.)

I second that. However, their memory works pretty well, even with sensible NF2 boards

I think they come in two flavors - the ones in the slim case are Plasmons - my friend just got some. The ones in the spindle that I got are Nan-Ya’s

#10

Spindle = Nan-Ya, Kartik, even here in Bombay. I dunno about the new ones in the jewel cases though.

#11

It may have changed, but last time I bought a samsung spindle here in Norway it was ritek discs of the highest quality…

#12

OC-Freak, were the Samsung-Ritek discs 40X? If so, then they used to be available here in India too, but now only these crappy 48X Nanya discs are available here.

Those 48x Nanya Samsungs only burn @20x with an LG GCE-8400b but initial burn quality, at least, is good.

#14

An update regarding those 24x Samsungs made in singapore.

I have only 1 piece of it which is still good and error free in CDSpeed, but my friend has a few pieces which have faded at the edges. The reflective part seems to have been “eaten” and disappeared.

Not sure why it happened though.

The reflective part seems to have been “eaten” and disappeared.

Probably “CD rot” which is the mark af a very poorly made CDR.
