When I try to run a Safedisk 2.9 protected game - that under all other circumstances works fine - if I turn 'Hide CDR Media' on using CloneCD's CCD Tray (v220.127.116.11), the game refuses to start up with a 'Cannot locate the CD-Rom' prompt.
It does this even if the original CD is in a DVD-Rom drive which doesn't reveal ATIP info anyway.
On another thread, someone said that their SD 2.9 protected CD would start up and play with this option selected. My test system is Win98SE, with CloneCD virtual drive disabled.
I'd be very grateful if anyone here has a SD2.9 protected original CD, if they can try the same test and report here with the results, stating which OS you're using. It's time this SD2.9/CCD Hide CDR Media was sorted once and for all.
Please remember this is only for SD2.9 NOT any other version, and NOT Securom or anything else, and using the original CD, and CloneCD Tray NOT Alcohol 'Ignore media type'.
I'm quite prepared to say 'sorry I was wrong' but I hate much more the idea of spreading yet more misinformation. Hopefully, collectively we can see what is and isn't true, and maybe pick through the why's and why not's (if there's any exceptions to the 'rule')?
