I have a TV that has a S-Video connection but no HDMI. and a laptop with no S-Video but it has a HDMI connection. How can I hook this TV to my pc so I can watch video on my TV off of my laptop?

There are HDMI to S-Video adapters…
Actually SJ, the adapter you refer to is DVI to HDMI (both digital standards). HDMI to S-Video is a bit more complex as it involves changing digital to analogue.
Olyteddy is right. This place has hdmi to s-video/composite converters that range in price from $175 to $500, so it can’t be done with a simple adapter or cable.

Wow, didn’t realise how expensive HDMI to S-Video converters are.
If the OP has a home cinema system they could connect it through that.
If not it might be worth considering upgrading to one as much more fully featured A/V receivers can be bought for in or around the same money as those adaptors.
Add a cheap set of speakers and you’ve got a full surround sound system.
Either that or a nice upgrade to a new flat screen TV with HDMI.
