"S" or "W"


Can anyone tell me what is the difference between “S” and “W” in the Lite-On models. For example, Lite-On have two 40x models, the LTR-40125S and the LTR-40125W. I know the “5” stands for the version of the Mediatek chipset but what does the “S” and the “W” stand for.

I tried looking for the answer in this forum but I couldn’t find anything.


I think and do not know for sure but seems to have to do with fw…also the 40125W maybe new 40x drives whereas the 40125S are older drives …though I still thin kthey make both …for instance I have gotten 2 40125S from Officemax both have been dated feb 2002…
