AVI's can't just be split anywhere .... they are a continuous stream with headers between data blocks. Splitting it in the middle of a data block is just rediculous & Roxio/ Adaptec should write their software better to inform you of this. The fact that the software doesn't -> suggest's you should stop using the software totally.
But at any rate, grab some DVD's & burn your avi to a dvd. It will save the hassle of file splitting & CD swapping in the middle of a movie.
Please check out the BARGAIN BASEMENT forum of cdfreaks. Try to get your hands on some Taiyo Yuden (TY) or Mitsubishi/ Verbatim (MCC or TY) dvd discs as these are the best, even if they are twice the price.
+R or -R shouldn't matter if it is a recent player.
