I have an old Toshiba Satellite Laptop with a Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-R2102. The problem I recently encountered is that it won’t read discs. I primarily use the drive to burn cds, and recently, when i insert a cd to burn, the computer won’t recognize it. maybe after a significant amount of time of inserting the cd, it MIGHT finally recognize it. And when it finally begins to burn, towards the end of the process, iTunes cancels the burn with the error message 4000 or something to that effect. This problem started about a week ago, but the weird part was when i inserted a Norton cd to install, it was read perfectly. I’ve been doing some research, and the most common response i’ve seen is to go into the registry and delete the upper and lower filters. is there any harm in removing those entries? basically, im just trying to figure out this problem…any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks
