PoweRec let me record at 40x this time, but the results are anything but great. I ran a few more tests - at 32x, 24x and 16x - both on the Premium and the PX-712A but couldn’t get the C1 count below 10,000. Don’t buy this media if you got a Plextor.

This stuff burnt terrible on this drive until I patched it to 832S CG2B. I had 4 coasters in a row, believe it or not!

These are some Ritek Ridata 52X Silver-Silver 50 CD-R cakebox that I purchased at www.anitec.ca blank media sale.

The scans were done on a LiteOn SOHC-5232K combo drive.
The data burned are Fedora Core 3 ISO’s and the burning software is Alcohol 120% 1.9.2.
5 discs burned, 1 coaster (2nd disc of the spindle) caused on the Teac DW-224E.

Hi-Val 2x , 619 MB burned to disc

Maxell (Ritek) circa 2000, CD-R 650MB, gold w/ greenish-blue dye. This disc was burned about 6 years ago on an old Hi-Val 2x (manufacturer unknown). I am scanning on a DW1650. The scan was impressive up until a certain point (as you can see). The data sounds fine (if you like Def Lepard, that is).
