I just bought a spindle of 25 Ridata 4x +R. it prints 4X on the disk and packing

DVD info recognize it as 8x media, and Nero shows it can be burnt at 8x. not tried to burn at 8x yet.

Someone posted R03-1 is 4x and 2 is 8x, how do i know my disk is 1 or 2??

I bought some “8X” Ritek DVD+R blanks and it had the RITEK R03 media ID.
They will only burn at 4X on either of my Pioneer DVD recorders. Seems like
Ritek made a mistake and mis-marked them as 8x ? :frowning:

so mine is “8x” mismarked as “4x” ?

It’s the “Media Product Revision Number” which shows “2”.

Ritek DVD+R R03-1 burns at 12X for me on my Benq 1600… no problems…
from what I understand, you need Herrie’s firmware to burn R03’s >4x on a Pioneer…

use dvdidentifier and get the media code. if its rev. 1 some burners will only burn at 4x. if its rev. 2 then your should get at least 8x burns.

I thought Herrie was the NEC Wizard? - can’t remember who it is for Pioneer
