Ritek G04 with Pioneer 106D - how long will it last?

Hi,

I am just archiving my digital photos to DVD. I am burning them to some Ridata G04 (purple surface) with my Pioneer DVD 106D.

  1. How long can I expect them to last?
  2. What is the best way to store them to ensure longevity (ie CD wallet or DVD case, etc)?
  3. Does the writer quality affect longevity of discs? How does the Pioneer 106D compare?

Thanks

To be honest - I don’t know. My best guess will be 50 years+ maybe 100 years+

DVD-case or CD-wallet is both fine for DVD - but CD-R discs should not be stored in plastic wallets as it may cause the recording layer to peel.

The write quality will for sure affect the longevity, and the good thing is that the pioneer DVR-106 is one of the better if not the best writer when it comes to write quality
