I find Sony-branded Ritek DVD-media to be of very good quality (especially DVD+R with RITEKF16 MID), same MID branded TDK or Maxell usually give worse results in my opinion.

At leat readable Looks the lower speed at beginning isn´t optimized for this media.

The GSA-H62N continues to impress. The same media with this drive:

F1 on H62N 8x 4

This media looks like it would benefit tremendously from a lower write speed, perhaps 4x or 6x, but unfortunately, this is my last disc. I’ll have to try and keep it around here to check if it deteriorates with age.

This was an incorrect assumption. Results at 4x were poor. Apparently there was a spindle of more Ritek F1 laying around here, though from a different brand (not sure when it was purchased). It has a hub code of TDH905280949C14 which corresponds to a manufacture date of May 28th, 2009 - about a month older than the Maxell media. Ritek probably ‘binned’ their media according to who they were selling to. They gave the good stuff to Maxell and the mediocre product to generic-sounding companies.

This is how “equip” brand fares (same burn and read speed):

F1 on H62N 8x 4

PIE is comparable to Maxell, but the PIF is almost triple!

Here are some photos of both discs:

This new result on the GSA-H62N is a marked improvement over all the other drives here tested. No strategy swap was necessary. The drive offers either 4x or 8x for this media.

G05 on H62N 4X 4

Perhaps a strategy swap might yield better results with a 2x burn speed. But this is certainly adequate for this inexpensive media.

I don´t have this kind of G05 but because of the very different results with one cakebox I never was sure which writer/speed was the best for this media
