Due the writing @14x max. the drives was incredible quiet. I thought the Smartbuy have to be an unbelievable good balance. But at end of writing while LeadOut/Finalizing the 224BB gets noisy like everytime.

If there were a change to set the max. speed to 14x at reading I would use it.

Awful burn. No problems visible, DVD looks OK

Maybe it could do a good burn if I use max 8x?

did you store these in a dvd wallet?

Yes, and this DVD was also used many times, so it´s not in a “new”-condition

This is a write strategy swap burn. Picked RITEKG03, as it seems to give slightly better results than G04. Have yet to try G02 or G01.

Aside from an odd PIF spike at the beginning, this is a satisfactory disk, in that it is halfway decent, but not nearly as good as some of the 2006 G05 scans posted here. Either this is because 2012 G05 discs are vastly inferior to 2006 discs, or perhaps I need to get my hands on a particular Lite-ON drive model that seemed to work really well with G05.

All-in-all, this is usable media – if burned at 2x with a write swap. 1 year longevity test to follow, since it has been suggested here that G05 might degrade over time.

I believe G05 is still available, mabye it still gets produced?

But I guess only the printable version still exist. On some Ebay shops you can still get this which should also be G05

I have the printable version, dunno when it was made, but it have a big vary of quality (some scans will follow). Can´t remember my old G05 around 15 years ago from Platinum and Ridata were also so different from disc to disc.
