Ritek DRD-47-4X-RDSM

These are on sale at newegg for $45 (free shipping, too).

Does anyone know if these can be burned at >4x speeds on NEC 2500A and/or LiteOn 851S? I’m loving burning my TDK DVD+R 4x’s at 6x on my NEC!

Thanks!
Dave

The max is 4x on these. I don’t think they’ll burn faster than 4x on any drive.

I’m also fairly sure that results of doing so would be less than successful.

>less than successful

For this medium only, or more generally burning 4x-rated discs at 6x?

The Plextor PX-708A: This dual format drive is Plextor’s bid to regain performance leadership in the optical drive market. This drive can record at 8x speeds to DVD+R media rated for only 4x burning.

Good luck!

Hey all,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I’m new to all this stuff and I searched but could not find an answer. Saw this thread and thought I’d ask here so here goes…

Newegg lists two different Ritek 8x +R discs.

What is the difference in these two products and what does “RDSM” mean??

Ritek DVD+R 4.7G 8X Single Sided Write Once Media 50pk, Model “DRD+47-8X-RDSM” - OEM

RITEK DVD+R 4.7G 8X Single Sided Write Once Media 50pk, Model DRD+47-8X, OEM

I asked Newegg and they sent me to Ritek. I asked Ritek and got no answer. Thanks for any help!

Maybe it’s the packaging? Does one have a cake-box and the other have just shrink wrap?

I think it’s just the packaging also. The RDSM has the thick spacers on the top and bottom , while the OEM has those blank spacer discs. Both should be made by RICOH.
