Yes. Ritek-Ricoh DVDR

Yes, you were scammed. There are a lot of US vendors who will swear they are selling you certified 8X DVD+R media labeled RITEK. What you end up getting is certified 4x DVD+R media made by RITEK for RICOH and at a price significantly higher than you can buy it locally.

Send it back and get your money and shipping refunded and never do business with them again. I have been burned by this two times and I have been able to get my money and shipping refunded.

I am considering a purchase of RITEK certified 8X DVD+R media from another vendor, but they are sending me a blank sample to check out for my self before I make a large purchase.

Watch out for the scammers like MERITLINE with this media.

I received a sample disk from a vendor today. I saw where they advertised real RITEK 8x certified media. The company was good enough to send me a sample of the media they are selling.

It looks like the real thing to me. Now for a burn test!

I ended up getting the same Ricoh 4x dvd+r’s from Excaliberpc.com and they swore up and down that they were the real 8x discs until I called Ritek USA about it. Long story short, after numerous calls and emails, I got my money back. I ordered the real 8x discs from Newegg.com ( Ritek DVD+R 4.7G 8X Single Sided Write Once Media 50pk, Model “DRD+47-8X-RDSM” - OEM ), BUT and here’s the real kicker, These Ritek R03’s are seemingly TRASH! So it’s been a waste of time and effort to get good 8x discs for me. 5 tries at 8x and 5 seemingly good burns until I go to read them! All read errors up the wazoo. Some of the written discs even at 4x seem to be unreadable or have bad problems reading in my Lite-On LTD163D reader. I’m using a Lite-On 811S as a burner, btw. Since Taiyo Yuden just announced their 8x DVD+R media, I may just try them next time unless they’re super overpriced comparatively. I’d be happy to field any questions on the Ritek media or show any screen shots, but unless I got stuck with a duff 811S, this media reeks!

My discs are ‘DVD+R CH1 8X R03’ on their chart. I see that there is also an H03 in 8X speed.
