Hey All…

Has anyone had any experience with the Ritek 16X +R media? I wasn’t aware that they were making 16X yet but supermediastore.com has a hell of a deal on them now. Just wanted to see if anyone has any feedback on these before I give them a try. The only 16X I’ve used is Verbatim and its great. Just wondering if the Ritek is as good or maybe even better. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks much.

Hey G)-(osters…

Thanks for the update. That link sure doesn’t look very favorable now does it? But I wonder how the hell their getting away with that without getting some lawsuits slapped on them for false advertisement. Pretty odd.

Thanks again

Mark

I have a five pack of Ridata 16x +R disks that I haven’t tried out yet but DVD Identifer
has this to say about them

** INFO : An Empty Writable Disc Is Recommended For Accurate Results
** INFO : Drive = LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S [FW BS0S]
** INFO : Write Capabilities = DVD+RW DVD+R DVD+R-DL
** INFO : Write Capabilities = DVD-RW DVD-R
** INFO : Disc = [DVD+R:RITEK-R04-001]
** INFO : Write Speeds (Supported By This Drive On This Disc) Listed Below

** INFO : GET PERFORMANCE Write Speed Descriptor(s)
Descriptor #1 = 22160 KBPS (16.00x) - [CLV/Non-Pure CAV]
Descriptor #2 = 19390 KBPS (14.00x) - [CLV/Non-Pure CAV]
Descriptor #3 = 16620 KBPS (12.00x) - [CLV/Non-Pure CAV]
Descriptor #4 = 11080 KBPS ( 8.00x) - [CLV/Non-Pure CAV]
Descriptor #5 = 8310 KBPS ( 6.00x) - [CLV/Non-Pure CAV]

so I guess when I get around to trying them they should write @ 16x without any problem
with the 1633s.

Yo-

Sure looks like they will do 16x on your Lite-On burner-

They only do 8x on the NEC 35xx burners - so are not worth us NEC folks getting any-

That’s what 8 jelly jar glasses of grain alcohol will do to you…

#16

If I want any crap out of you I’ll squeeze your head so go play with your rubber ducky.:stuck_out_tongue:

#17

Sorry Mr. Altitude. We leave that for ripit and Mike Mr. Guiness. I got 3 yrs off that gut rot.

Well guys/gals I just burned one of the Ridata/Ritek 16x disks with 4.459 Gb of
video the movie Twister it took from the lead in to lead out a total of 6 min and
2 seconds to finish the disk. Well it doesn’t look all that good being burned @16x
from what KProbe says PI of 419 and PIF of 7 at the end of the disk. I haven’t
tried playing it yet to see if it will play all the way through without freezing up along
the way or at the end of the disk. Here is the KProbe of it and it’s not all that good
either

Yelp just what I was afraid was going to happen with the disk just tried watching it and
it freezes up every once in a while for a second or two and then takes back off playing
again. They may be rated for 16x but I would advise against trying to burn them at the
rated speed they are just not up to par for a 16x burn IMO. :a :frowning:
