hi there,

just a general question regarding the wear-and-tear of cd ripping on my dvd-rw drive. is it cd/dvd burning or cd ripping that takes the most out of a cd/dvd drive? i don’t burn many discs but i’m looking to convert my cds to my computer. if this does severely shorten the lifespan of a cd/dvd drive, does anyone have any tips to minimize the effect of ripping?

yeah, don’t use it…eventually if you use it ,it will wear out, just like everything else…

If you are worried about the drive being worn out perhaps you should buy a cd/dvd rom to rip your disc’s.

thanks for your replies! considering a cd-rom goes for 8 bucks (that’s canadian, dontcha know), i figure i’ll let that one do the grunt work.
