I occassionally use ripit4me when dvdshrink cant handle my dvd backup. In the last month or 2 (not sure when it happened) rip4me no longer works on Vista64 nor Win7-64. It appears to churn the hard drive, reading 100,000,000 of bytes according to the task manager. I dont even have to put in a dvd. The problem starts as soon as I run the program. This used to work fine and now does not. I uninstalled magiciso virtual drive thinking that was the problem (virtual drives mapped to the hard disk) but it was not. dvdshrink32 works fine on these same two systems, but I bought the 25th anniversary triology of Back-To-The-Future and shrink cannot handle any of them.
I just made a successfully backup of the first B-T-T-F on an old laptop that runs xp sp 3 using ripit4me, but the same program on vista64 or win7 does not run. The hard drive light starts blinking constantly and the disk is churning even without a dvd in the drive. I know they used to run as I can remember having to use ripit4me for about 4-5 dvd's that shrink could not handle.
I rarely get a dvd I cannot copy so it is not worth the money to buy fab8 which I know works fine as it expired last week on the win7 system (Golden Compass problem)
Lemme know if there is a better place to post.
thanks for looking!
EDIT - I have latest McAfee and Malware Bytes and keep them up to date. The debug log for ripit4me shows 1000's of sync messages and the log is getting big so something must have changed. Maybe some type of Microsoft security got control.
