I am looking for CD-R and DVD-R media that have full-face white thermal surface that is compatible with the Rimage Everest series of printers.
TY, of course, has good CD-R and DVD-R, but you just about pay double for their Everest compatible discs compared to what everyone else charges.
I've had mixed results with Prodisc CD-R; I'm afraid to even bother with their DVD-R (see http://blogs.zdnet.com/Apple/?p=441 ).
Moser Bayer (MBI) has decent CD-R at a fair price. It tests as a B-grade media on my Clover 101 analyzer. The only issue I have with it is that I can't run it through my Autostar 2000 when I just want to print black with the Prism. It does print very nicely with the Prism, but the center hub is rounded instead of square and the picker won't let go of about 5-7% of the discs. The print quality on the Everest is also very good.
Moser Bayer DVD-R, which is based on a Fuji mold, burns well at 8X - 16X (chokes at 4X on Pioneer A05) and tests well, but they have rounded the outer edges and 10% of the discs pop out of the Everest clamping pins. The solution is to rotate the discs by hand until they stay in position, but that defeats the purpose of automation (I'm using an Amigo II for loading). BTW, the discs print beautifully.
So, can anyone suggest another white thermal coated disc that is compatible with the Everest (and affordable)?
Thanks for your help!
