Thanks for the info. Is this burner a good model? Maybe I should replace my old NEC ND-3450A 16X DVD±R/RW.

My Lite-On DH-20A4P burns almost anything pretty well. Not the best or newest. I bought the combo deal because it was cheap and the DH-20A4P
probably won’t be around much longer.
The burner and the media are both good.

I agree. Have gotten Ritek R05 and F16. Both burn fine with my Lite-On.
F16 has been good for me

They both burn about the same as my Verbatim MCC004.

I checked the Lite-On sub-forum, but did not find this model. Which version of the firmware / driver do you use for your Lite-On DH-20A4P? Thanks!

I use one of the 9P59 enhanced firmwares here. It’s shows the model as LH not DH-20A4P but that’s a mistake I think. Not trying to talk anybody into it, but it was only $14.99 more for the burner.
I usually burn at 8x though.

Thanks again!
The reason I asked so many questions is that I want to make sure I have a working combination of the burner, firmware, and media. So I will take a note of this DH-20A4P (firmware 9P59), on RiData 16X DVD+R (burned at 8X) as a working solution?

I use the enhanced firmware 9P59 from the link above and the Smartburn utility for Lite-On drives. It burns RiData and most other media pretty well.
Most of the quality scans I have done have been from Nero Speed Quick Scan, not the regular scan.
I have used these discs with good success on all my burners except for the NEC 6650a in my laptop.

Good burns with Pioneer 116 and Optiarc 7200 too. The Lite-On combo was too hard to pass up for $31.98. Other combos available, but I don’t have any of those drives.

I have gone through several 100 packs of these discs from Newegg. They may not be the best but they serve the purpose for me and I certainly can’t complain about the price with free shipping.

You’re welcome. I actually like the burner and discs a lot. Didn’t want to influence you too much. You should download Smartburn too. Might want to wait on the enhanced firmware. I think it will void the warranty.

Thanks!
just installed the drive, NeroInfo shows 16x read and 8x write, firmware 9p59. Is it normal?

I’m at work and don’t know enough about NeroInfo to say. My laptop is showing 24x, which I assume is for CDs. Have you tried burning a DVD?
My new burner is showing 16x max with Ritek F16 media. The top blank was pretty bad but the other 5 or 6 I have burned were very good @ 8x.
