It’s not really a good scan. IMHO of course. You have a lot of errors, though the peak does not get higher than 3… It is not as good as LiteOns drives & Ricoh couple. Or maybe I’m used to see better scans with my Litey…

Ricoh +R 8x R02 Media labeled as Platinum burnt as 4x, 6x, 8x, 12x on a Plextor PX-716A FW 1.04 (one burner).
Read back on two identical PX-716A FW 1.04 burners with consecutive serial numbers. *8 and *9. *8 burnt all media and scanned 6x and 8x. *9 scanned 4x and 12x burns.

Media is Platinum bought in a 50 pack spindle.

The PX-716A FW 1.04 has built in support for 12x on these media. I have not used a hacked/patched firmware.

All media tested on several machines including an xbox and all burns read back perfectly without any problems whatsoever.

What did they do to this spindle? R01 has been absolutely perfect whether i used Ricoh, Arita or Datawrite. Now i open this box and first 20 has been totally similar. Same “hill” and same spike at the same point no matter what drive/speed i use for writing/scanning. DW 4x from SVP :confused:

Burned and scanned with Liteon SOHW-1653
This is my friend burner, i am pretty sure he uses stock firmware.

First scan show some high PIF at the end of the disc. (2nd picture actually)
Second scan look very very good.

BTW I have a nec3500 but no drive to scanne, will try to have my friend scan one of those dvd burned on my drive.

Memorex 16X DVD+R written at 12X
Pioneer DVR-110D, F/W 1.17, Nero Data Disc.

Not really impressed with the quality of this media, PIF rates are generally fairly high on my 8 burners I have tested it on. I quite frequently see clumps of PIF errors such as in the following example, in varying positions and sizes with no relation to speed changes or strategy shifts. Appears to me to be marginal manufacturing. Maybe this is a well known problem as many of my 16x burners from varying mfg’s only support this media at 12x. My 4163B A105, DW1620 B7W9 and ND-3500A 2.1A perform actual 16x burning with this media.
