Reviews for BDR-206DBK?

Does anyone know of any reviews for this drive and how it compares to BDR-205?

Also, on Pioneers website it states write speeds of 8x BD-RE and 6x BD-RE DL - I thought the max was 2x for BD-REs?

Does the BDR-206DBK support bitsetting? I can’t find any info on this.

Thanks

These japanese reviews (Part 1 & 2) by YSS are of the BDR-206MBK (a burner BDXL capable)

But does a good review of the “ordinary” BDR-206DBK exist ?

I suppose that both burners do not share the same chipset (and not the same price !)

BDR-S06 (‘retail’ BDR-206):

There are also lots of burn results here: http://club.myce.com/f142/pioneer-bdr-206-s06j-s06xl-315575/

Note: BDR-206 = BDR-206D + DVD-RAM support (enabled via firmware), both drives share the same hardware

Yes the BDR-206M uses a different chipset so its hardware is different than all the other 206 drives.

I think BDR-206DBK is good option. This burner can read and write a number of different Blu-ray, DVD, and CD formats. This writer allows users to author high-definition Blu-ray Disc content while also delivering the ability for high-capacity data storage.

I just noticed that: the Pioneer BDR-206D

  • which is almost the only one of the 206 series drives sold in Europe -
    has no DVD-RAM supprort !

So if I need DVD-RAM support is there a way to crossflash a BDR-206D with a BDR-206 firmware ?

I ask that because on this page: http://homepage2.nifty.com/yss/bdr206/bdr206_top.htm
I can read this:

DVRFlash 2.7.6

The PIONEER BD-RW BDR-203 is not supported by this utility - Aborting

*D drives never came with any DVD-RAM write support…

Thanks, but I know that fact about the letter D

I have a BDR-206DBK and I need DVD-RAM support.
So I like to know if there is any chance in the future to be able to crossflash my BDR-206D with a BDR-206 or BDR- S06 firmware ? (in order to enable DVD-RAM support)
