Restart Loop when installing AC97 drivers

I have tried installing my onboard sound after formatting my computer and it just restarts when its almost complete. I have tried drivers from three different sites as well as the drivers in the system32 folder.
I installed in safe mode and it worked, but when I went to restart it, my computer was in a restart loop.

I have tried removing the device and reinstalling and nothing…

Specs:
WinXP Pro, SP3
Pentium 4 3.0 GHz
Asus P4P800 SE Motherboard
Intel Springdale i865PE Chipset
Audio Adapter: Intel 82801EB ICH5 - AC’97 Audio Controller [A-2/A-3]
Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 (256 MB)

Thanks

More than likely they are the wrong drivers, try these:

Tried it, same thing happened.
When the computer turns back on I get this error:

The system has recovered from a serious error.
A log of this error has been created.

Then it wants me to tell Microsoft.

Any other options?

Do you have any other sound cards on your computer?

Download from Asus site
