Researchers create UV laser, potential for higher density discs

I just posted the article Researchers create UV laser, potential for higher density discs.

Despite most research now being put into multi-layer and holographic discs to achieve higher density discs, research into squeezing more data onto a single layer still continues, as a group of…

Hmm maby it is time to bring back “laser disc” but converted for blu-ray use. That would be something, 100Gb singel layer instantly. But it would be hard to transport “laser disc” or LP like optical discs. Still, I would like it, I need lots of space

Laserdisc used a disc that was 30 cm in diameter while blu-ray uses a 12 cm diameter disc. That’s a ratio in area (excluding the center area where no data exists) is 6.25:1 Using Blu-ray Disc technology on a laserdisc-sized disc would yield about 156.25GB. Not too bad.

Get me a hard disk
