Replacement for Lite-on LH-20A1H

I’d appreciate some advice on the best replacement burner to buy. The drive has started to refuse to open until the third attempt and it seems sensible to replace it now before it dies completely.

Presently I have:-

  1. Lite-on LH-20A1H Firmware LLOC

used primariy with Verbatim DVD+RW 4x for burning movies. Sometimes also use Verbatim DVD+R 16x when it is not going to be written over.

  1. Sony DRU-800A Firmware KY06

used primarily for recording audio CDs on Verbatim CD-R 52xspeed.

I rarely rip DVDs

I have read many posts on this forum and the Pioneer DVR-115D is frequently mentioned, but is this the best option for me?

Thanks for your help in advance.

I would go either for a Pioneer DVR-115 or a Optiarc AD-7200A.
They are both excellent burners.

Since your Sony DRU-800A is just a rebadged LiteOn SOHW-1693S, you can use it for disc quality scanning if you crossflash it.

Thanks to both labo_200 and Womi. The Optiarc AD-7200A looks good, so I have ordered one.

Womi thanks also for your comments on Sony.

On these drives, Sony firmware itself can scan equally as well as the LiteOn firmware.
