[qanda]This thread is about the Lite-On SHW-160P6S. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]Hey all,

So I’ve been attempting to burn an mp3 disk for the last 3 hours with no success. Basically, nero gives me an error/burning failed at about 4%-9% into the burning process. I updated the firmware on my burner and the media i am attempting to put on cd-rw is high quality enough not to cause me any problems. Anyways, I’ve read a lot of threads on this particular issue and similar errors, but it seems that the specific log of the failed burn process varies. The following is my log from nero. If anyone could offer me assistance in fixing this problem, it would be greatly appreciated.

What media was used, and has a slower burn speed been tried? You might try a different firmware too. I have a SHM-165P6S that generated about 50% coasters with 16x Playo +R with latest firmware, but all burn fine with the next latest firmware. Also I get best SL burns with SmartBurn disabled.

#3

hey, thanks for the response…

the media i tried to burn are just a bunch of random mp3 tracks that i compiled to put on cd…i tried different burn speeds and also updated my firmware, nothing seems to have changed…still gets about 4-6% in and then craps out…any other ideas?

thanks

p.s. i dont know what smart burn is or how to disable it

My $.02 worth:

I never had much success using CD-RW. I use CD-R, no multisession and I finalize the disc.

To eliminate any problems with Nero, you might try burrrn which is highly recommended by many CDF members (Note: I regularly use Nero but I use Nero 8).
