[qanda]This thread is about the LG GGW-H20L. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]Hi to the room this is a first for me in here so I'll just get to the point of the Question. You see I just brought the Blu-ray Disc Rewriter GGW-H20L two days ago and already I'm in trouble with it.I dont know what made me do it But I did You see I had changed the regional code to 4 instead I should of left it open (free Zone) And I was wandering if there is anything I can do to change it back to how it was: Like is there any software or anyone who knows how it can be done.? It would be a BBIG help to me :o Thanking you
first of all, download the newest firmware (YL05) somewhere, for example http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/FIRMWARE/LG/LG-GGW-H20L-DVD-Writer-Firmware-YL05.shtml .Then download MediaCodeSpeedEdit (MCSE) from http://home.arcor.de/ala42/MCSE_Mirror/ .
Start MCSE and open the downloaded firmware. Set RPC-1 (=region free) checkbox. It can be called auto reset or something, I don't remember exactly. You may also check increase read speed box, if you want to read discs faster. Save file using different name, do not overwrite your original flasher. Flash your drive with newly created modified flasher.I hope this helps. If you need additional instructions, please read http://club.cdfreaks.com/f61/mediacodespeededit-tool-dvd-writers-114269/
Im trying to get my LG GGW-H20L to play Blue-Ray disks sold in Norway with region B, and follows this tips. My question is simply: How do I actually "flash" my drive with the modified flasher? The discussion threads I've been reading so far explains the previous steps, but just points to "Flash your drive as normal" - I don't know this, and hope someone could explane it to me - thanks!
MCSE can not remove the bluray region protection.
but the program can resety teh regions settings right?
No, it makes all further region counter changes non permanent, so the counter is back where it was after the next drive reset.
