OK ive downloaded MPlayer-0.90.tar.bz2 to /home/kwkard
So i used fileroller to extract the files to the folder /home/kwkard/Mplayer-0.90
No i have no idea how to compile this. Ive read through the FAQ and it told of compile errors, i have no idea where to begin other than it said that i need gcc 2.95.x or gcc 3.x
So i decided to go into add/remove applications and navigate down to development. and checked Development Tools, X Software Development, and GNOME Software Development.
I tell it to update and as its going through checking package dependencies it tells me it could not locate required packages and therefore will not install.
It tells me i need:
"gtkhtml = 1.1.8-5" Required by:gtkhtml-devel
"krb5-libs = 1.2.7-10" Required by:krb5devel
"openssl = 0.9.7a-2" Required by:openssl-devel
So i would assume i need to install these packages, but after that and after installing the development packages, how do i go about compiling this?
Why is this so confusing?
Also i searched for the specific mentioned packages, i found gtkhtml only as .tar.gz packages. So if i cant compile mplayer, how can i compile that package?
As for krb5-libs, i found as an rpm, but coudnt find the exact version number i need.
And for openssl, also as .tar.gz files.
Thanks for the help.
