Red Hat Fedora CORE 4 SELinux & LG GSA-5163D

I am using Red Hat Fedora CORE 4 SELinux and XCDRoast & K3b CD/DVD burning software with my new LG GSA-5163D with the latest A105 firmware revision. I tested all of my drive’s features successfully on my Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 computer with both the USB2.0 and IEEE1394 connections.

On RHFC4 SELinux, I can utilize the CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, and DVD-R features, but I can not utilize the CD-R feature whatsoever. Consequently, I am unable to burn data or Red Book CD CD-R discs. I don’t know what to do. I am going as far as I can go with my limited knowledge to get expertise help so I decided to give it a shot here as well.

Will someone please explain to me how to resolve this issue? Thank you very much!

Very hard to say without knowing more about your setup.

I would make sure you have cdrecord up to date and make sure that you are not using ide scsi (you are using kernel 2.6x, right).

You could also try Nero for Linux Nero uses its own burning engine rather than cdrecord used by K3B and XCD.
