Does anybody no if Red Faction for the PC has this new version of Safe Disc 2.
Clony XXL Picked up no protection
Disc 1 read ok up to 80% and 9 hours latter it is only on 81%
I am reluctant to give up unless anybody knows the settings i should be using
i have a goldstar writers which i use to read and write and have made many backup of other games including the old safe disc
Hmm I don’t think so since SafeDisc (2) uses errors on the first 10.000 sectors of the disc and not at 80%. Check your disc for smudges and scratches. The errors might be intentional but I’m not sure since I haven’t got the game 
Take a look at the root of the disc and see if there are any suspicious files that might indicate a protection. Also take a look at the disc itself. Does it have a circle on the disc?
My copy of RF has no protection on either disk (Oz version).
As Gamefreak said, check your original for scratches or muck…
gave up after 17 hours in which time i had gone from 80 to 83%
there is no obious muck or scratchs and a good wipe clean did not help either.
also i used copy protection dector which told me that it had dummy files and i should use read sudchannel data and audio but this did nothing either
is there anything else to try or is it just a tiny scratch in a vital area
Red Faction is ProtectCD in Europe & Oz. The fact that most people select both subs & FES, then have no problem, is testament to the view that is has no protection.
Late model readers & writers can eat it. Older devices lose out on the errors, of which there are many and the dummy files/illegal TOCs.
Read: FES, default & 1, IBSS = 1,000, both subs
Write: default
I’ve copied RedFaction, and I had the same problem with Red Faction where it looked like it was stuck on 80%, what I did was to let it do it, it took about 2.5 hours. It worked perfectly, I used CloneCD with the following settings enabled:
Read Speed: Max
Read Subchannel Data from Data Tracks: Ticked
Read Subchannel Data from Audio Tracks: Ticked
Fast Error Skip: Ticked
My reader is a Pioneer DVD ROM DVD-115 1.33(firmware version)
MY writer is a Yamaha CRW4416S IDE Internal
Wrote with RAW-SAO, with a write speed of 2x (about 200k/bs)
Thanks every body it works great now i used those settings straight past 80%
but i cant understand why conly xxl did not pick up any protection

Me too has a Pioneer DVD 115 w/ FW 1.33 and it neither reads Data nor Audio-Subs !!!
