hi guys hope yo’ll had a marry xmas.

i want to backup red alert 2 and i dont know how to, the problem is that i have searched the forum and i kno what to do i just dont understand!?

i undersatand you need to know a couple details that you regulaly ask when some one ask how to copy a game so here they are…

apps i have

alocohol120%
nero6

burners…
pioneer 107 (dvd burner)
pioneer 108(dvd burner)
liteon 1633s(dvd burner)
samsung sm-348 (cd burner)

when i try to simply copy it i keep getting read erorrs.

Hi tutyet,

The reading errors you are getting are perfectly fine if they are near the start of the disc. You should be using Alcohol 120% for this title as Nero 6 doesnt specialise in copy protected cds. Read and burn at 4x, and read & burn with the liteon 1633s. You maybe have to use some emulation options to get it to work, which is included in Alcohol 120%, but well talk about that once youve got a hard copy. Remember to use the SafeDisc 2/3 profile when reading and writing.

Good luck.

okay so i open Alcohol 120%----> image making wizard, then i click the “dtattype” menu down and select “safedisc 2/3” and change read speed to 4, the i press next and i select were in the hdd the game files will go then i click start right?

so its finished now, what do i do?

thanks for the great help!

Then, on the main Alcohol 120% screen, you select Image Burning Wizard. Then select your image, then next. Then again select the SafeDisc 2/3 datatype. Then select 4x burning. Then it will burn.

Post back when youve done this, or try running it and seeing if it works, if it doesnt were going to have to use some emulation :(. Remember to try in ALL your drives to see if it works.

Good luck.

options are…

Track format…data track mode 1
data track mode 2 frpm 1

2336

image header size
image tailer size

(tick boxes)
data was srambled already

thanks again.

Select the small one.

Good luck.

#10

thanks so much it worked!

but if i want to keep the game does the big file have to be on my hdd?

many thanks.

#11

You managed to burn it on CD right (thanks to merther02) so you can delete the file on your HD.
If you want to play it from your HD through mount image than you should keep it.

#12

okay i understand but if leds say i deleted the file and i didnt have the game installed then i would not be able to install it right becuse the the i burned on to a cd is only aboout 5kbs.

thanks

#13

Huh? It shouldnt be about 5kb. Can you actually run the title? Try un-installing Red Alert 2, then installing from your hard backup, not the image on your hard drive.

Hope this helps.
