I’mm trying to back up DVD’s
I’m using the latest Nero 6 to to the VOB’s thing using the DVD tool on the software.
Problem is most of the time the damn disks then don’t work :a
I’m using Red Datawrite disks.
a Lite-on DVDRW LDW-411s FSOJ
This should burn at 4 speed but will only do x2 some some reason.
I used smart burn and this is what it said
Drive Type = DVD DUAL
Disc Type = DVD-R (Single Layer)
Disc MID = 49 4E 46 4F 53 4D (INFOSM)
Disc TID = 41 52 54 30 31 00 (ART01.)
Nominal Capacity = 4.38GB
Manufacturer Maybe = Unknown
SMART-BURN Speed Limit = 2.0X (Write)
erm any ideas or should i switch software ?
Thanks for the help
It isn’t the software, it’s the media. Use media rated for 4x… Most -R media is only 2x. You might try Ritek’s Ridata 4x DVD-R media. You can usually find it for decent prices, though it is not the lowest-priced media on the market, it is some of the best.
In another post, I mentioned that most burning software will look for speed ratings embedded in the blank media and record accordingly. You have the report from Smart-burn that says the speed limit is 2x.
As to the discs not working, I have no experience with your discs, but I have had experience with bad blank media. The results are deploreable and as such, I’m sticking with Ritek…
