[QUOTE=w323;2192881]I have dozens of recorded DVDs. That is, stuff that I saved to my DVR back when I had satellite TV, that I subsequently recorded to blank DVD’s with my DVD Recorder (remember those??).
Anyway, I bought VideoFab to convert the .vob files on the DVD’s to .mp4 files so I can watch in on my iPod, especially when I’m traveling.
When I upload files into VideoFab from my DVD’s here’s what happens:
a) If I have several recorded episodes (say of a TV show) on a disk, each of them uploads into VideoFab without problem.
b) If I have a DVD with one long movie on it (1.5 to 2 hrs long), the DVD recorder has apparently split the DVD segments into files of 0.99GB in length (which I guess is normal for a DVD recorder to do). Anyway, something weird happens when I upload these files to VideoFab. Segment 1 always uploads, as does whatever the last segments are. However, segments 2 and (usually) 3 never upload. It is as if they are encrypted. I tried several recorded movies I have and the problem exists with all.
I’m not going to be able to help too much with regard to specifics using VideoFab, but I can fill in some of the general details.
The 1 GB files you are seeing on movies 1-1/2/2 Hrs running time is normal for DVDs - all files - movies, extras, TV show episodes, etc. are all stored that way.
I suspect, that rather than trying to upload the indiviual files to Fab, you merely select the VIDEO_TS folder (for movies, at least), and proceed from there.
Keep this thread open 'til someone with experience with that program jumps in here. Shouldn’t take too long…
