Recoding Media center shows

vbimport

#1

Hi all, first post so please be nice.

I’m having trouble using Nero Recode to encode DVR-MS files as recorded by our Media Center, for viewing on my Archos. Ripped DVD’s recode beautifully with no issues whatsoever, but whenever I try to convert recorded TV programs the process fails before it even gets started. Any Ideas? TIA.

I have the exact same problem, although in my case I’m trying to recode dvr-ms files into PSP-compatible MPEG-4 files for the Sony PSP. Any answers would be really welcome.

Well, I haven’t solved why it crashes, but at least I’ve found a work-around:
In my Nero package is also “Nero Vision 4”. Personally I’ve v4.9.5.7. This software allows you to import (and if you want, edit) video, and then you can export to your desired format, recoding as necessary. When done in this way it doesn’t crash. Odd, but true.

[ul]Run Nero Vision 4.
[li]Choose “Make Movie”.
[/li][li]Click “Browse for Media” button near the centre of the window, then “Browse and add to project…”.
[/li][li]Browse to the dvr-ms file you want to recode. Eventually you’ll be able to see it and preview it in the window on the left.
[/li][li]Click “Next” and then click “Export Movie”.
[/li][li]Select the Export Template “Nero Digital”, and then use the “Configure” button to select your precise parameters. The templates should have something suitable.
[/li][li]Set the output filename and click “Export”. That should do it.[/ul]
[/li]Hope that’s helpful.
Justin.
