Over years, I made about 30 8mm tapes - both Hi8 (analog) and D8 (digital) - did this on a couple different Sony camcorders.
Last one I had was Sony TRV-310. It is now broken.
So I'm trying to read the 8mm tapes I made over the years - I borrowed two 8mm camcorders - Sony TRV120 (digital) and Sony TRV 308 (analog).
Many of the tapes I cannot read - I get a blue screen - when I hit Fast Forward while playing - some of the image shows up.
Do you think the tapes are bad ? Or just incompatible 8mm camcorders ? I tried cleaning the heads of both units.
I could not find any "tracking adjustment" on these two units - I think they are low end Sony units - maybe tracking adjustment is available on higher end ?
Good news is I made a VHS copy of each of the 8mm tapes - and those are all readable - but they are 2nd generation.
