P.S. I used 5.2.3.0 even though it say’s Version : 5, 2, 2, 6 in log file as this is a programming error in 5.2.3.0

I ran into the same problem as the OP did… When I tried to copy the movie the first time I ran into the same issue. It would copy and burn the movie but when I would play it the movie would seem to stall out at the theatrical or directors selection.

The movie is the USA version if that matters (region 1)

After reading the forum a bit I found this thread and tried something a little different… Finally I was able to get the movie to work.

Using the idea posted above I copied the source disc and saved it as an ISO (I don’t have a clone mode option in the main GUI). While doing this I selected the DVD-9 disc size since as indicated above it seemed to work.

After that I used the ISO as the source disc and then burned it to a Maxwell DVD+r (DVD-5) at 6x recording speed.

I don’t know if this will help but the only thing I did different then other times was I enabled "set booktype to DVD-ROM however all my other settings are at there default.

To those of you that are having playback problems are you using the VSO burn engine? If you are change it to ImgBurn and use it as the burn engine. If you not have ImgBurn already then you need to download it.

What media (DVD) are you using? Also in some of the older DVD players it depends on the firmware your player has. I have two expensive Toshiba and Sony players and at times some of my backups will not play properly but I have a Philips and it plays everything in site. I was told by experts that the Philips is more reliable for playing backups over all other players.

Maybe I’m a dummy, but…What’s the difference btween the burn engines for playback?

Most issues during playback can be related to low to poor quality media used and burning to fast, and at times burning way to slow depending on the write strategy that is set on the disc

No difference for burn engines but the VSO engine is giving some users problems and using another burn engine like ImgBurn fixes that problem. Also what SJ mentioned above sometimes cause that problem too. All it would do to try is cost you the amount of time for trying and the blank DVD if it not work but if it works then you have a Back up.

I don’t mean to butt in but I had issues with the bitsetting in dvdfab personally and I have found out some info that might help some members.
In my old machine I had a Lite-On dvd-rw drive with the lastest firmware but dvdfab didn’t booktype it to a dvd-rom. I insertered my backup in imgburn and hit discovery then I scrolled down to the bottom of the window where it said booktype. It said dvd+r not dvd-rom. I had to goto Lite-On’s website to install their bitsetting utility for my media to be booktyped to dvd-rom. I can’t remember what model of Lite-On it was since it was in an old machine that caught on fire.
I bought a new machine and it has a NEC Optiarc AD-7200A. Nec Optiarc drives don’t come with no bitsetting ability nor does NEC have a bitsetting utility. I had to use a modified firmware update that a friend of mine edited so that I have bitsetting ability. Now it shows under imgburn when I scroll down to the last section, it says “dvd-rom” now on the media I backup. Keep in mind that it voided my warrenty on the drive but they are cheap now days anyway so I don’t really care. As long as it works.
You really must check with the manufacture of the drive to see if your drive has bitsetting ablility.
Just passing on some info that I have experienced.
