I have a Lite-on LTC48161h.
It only reads DVD’s at 8X, instead 16 x.
I’m running XP SP1, and I tested it using Nero’s speed test.
I cant adjust it any faster.
The Lite-On LTC-48161H was connected as Secondary master and identified itself as LITE-ON COMBO LTC-48161H. Both autorun and DMA was enabled for both devices. (the other is TDK 880n).
I have the newest firmware kh0p.
XP says it’s DMA 2.
Please help…

@ cdub3, read a good review here. 
16x is max speed is most likely for single layer DVD-Video or DVD-ROM. If you are ripping dual layer or ±/R/RW is will be slower.
I was reading info from a single layer DVD.
I backed up a DVD I own , and was reading from it.
I’m still confused.

What you are seeing is still normal, since it reads DVD+/- R/RW recordables up to 8X max. It can only read pressed DVD data or video single-layer discs (original) up to 16X max.

Unless you use bitsetting to set the +/-R to DVD-ROM

Bit setting can only be used for +R (not -R).
