Re DVD-ROM features back-upable?

That's the question really, as well as DVD A/V files, can the PC interactive files be done?

sure, just copy and paste them from the original dvd into the folder (or iso if you have an iso editor) of your backed up dvd, maintaining the original folder/file structure. you'll have to account for the extra space needed for these files before doing the initial transcoding (ie: if the files take up 50mb, you'll have to set the size of the backup to be 50mb less than usual).

Lovely job - simple enough, I just have to figure out how much to cut the files by - Clone DVD lets you specify a custom file size for the end product anyway, sorted!

I've tried this once with UltraIso, the Iso was not readable after that. What tool did you use to edit your iso?

i've actually never done it myself, but it should be possible with any iso editor that properly saves the new iso. did you try that with a recent version of ultraiso?

OK, I've allowed the extra space for the files and created DVD files that are the right size using Clone DVD - but how do I burn them into a job lot?

Nero will only do DVD video files or data files (unlike with CDs, where it will do music and data :a )- it won't do a combination of the two. It refuses to recognise anything but DVD files in DVD file mode and if I just do it as a data disc (and this is with a VIDEO_TS folder and all that in a DVD format), it just won't play. Cyberlink DVD didn't have a problem but the DVD player didn't like it one bit.

I'm stumped. I'm sure there must be a really obvious solution, but I don't know it. Can anyone help? :doh: :sad:

you're saying nero won't let you add the other files to the dvd-video layout? because i've done it before (and i did it just now to confirm). it just won't let you add non-video files to the VIDEO_TS folder. make sure you're maintaining the file/folder structure of the original dvd.

Thanks for trying on yours but I just double-checked - it won't let me do it. Maybe it's the version of Nero I'm using? Mine is Nero OEM 6.6.0.3. Can I ask what version yours is?

try to use nero, not nero express (nero express doesn't support folder change in dvd-video mode)

i'm using version 6.6.0.14, but i'm sure i've done it before with older versions. you should always update your software when you're having problems anyway.

Oh, this is great; Nero 6 OEM suite only has BackItUp or Express, there is no 'Burning ROM', like I USED to have on my old Nero 5.5.

Even when updated, Express refuses to add any files except for DVD files. What can I do now? :doh: :a

Scrap that - I managed to download the trial version of Nero 6 Ultra Edition, and it worked fine!!

AZImmortal, thanks for looking at your version of Nero and checking that everything worked on yours... I don't know why it didn't work for me... were you using Nero Ultra Edition too, or just Express that comes with Nero OEM? I'm curious.

And thanks also mr_a_smith - it was your idea that prompted me to try out Nero Burning ROM which is what did it for me.
