Hi there,
It is certainly possible to do this :iagree:

The main thing you will need to do is connect your audio tape player up to your computer and record the audio - there are a number of ways to do this:

  • through your sound card
  • direct to your hard drive via a USB device
You will need a software package - there are so many available that it’s silly to give many links until you’ve decided which way you want to record, as they may not apply.

This link is a good prep - it deals with uploading vinyl, but the principle is the same. You are making an analogue audio feed digital for vinyl or tape.

Once you have your audio signal in digital wave file format, you will need to edit it to remove tape hiss and improve the quality.

Personally, I have a USB device and use software called LP ripper, LP recorder, then I use Wave Repair (free 30 day trial) and Audacity (free) for editing.

Read the tutorial on the link, and then post back a bit more info about how you plan to do it so people can give more specific advice.

Like Honeydew say, there is too many apps.
If you have NERO or ROXIO they can do all the recording and basic sound cleaning in one.
