Rdio streaming music service makes its debut.

I really like the idea of accessing the music from any device, anywhere, but I don’t see the reasoning why the smartphone service costs an extra $5 per month (50% more) relative to the desktop service. A device is a device IMO. If it costs $5 to listen on your PC alone, then it should cost $5 to listen on your smartphone (only) if you want.

I agree with you on that. The only logical reason I can think of is the fact that designing the applications for the mobile devices is an added expense for the company. With the desktop service they just had to create one application, but to enable widespread mobile capabilities they had to create three additional applications.

Or they’re just being greedy :wink:
