On high-end multimedia gear (no, we’re not talking any of the Logitech speaker / Creative Labs sound card junk - that’s the aforementioned midline multimedia dreck) it becomes much easier to tell the difference and it’s a dead giveaway on any DVD player hooked up to a home system. You’d have to be pretty deaf to miss the difference in the latter environment. If you’re streaming audio across the web, who cares - that’s glorified background noise anyway and a throwaway.
