Ram upgrade choice

I’m looking for upgrades for my pc, there were some reviews on the chips but I’m not too sure which one I should choose, here’s the specs of my pc and the two different kinds of ram chips:

Inspiron 530
Windows Vista Home Basic
Processor - Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 8300 GS 128 Mb

Memory
Slot 1 1024 Mb 667 Mhz
Slot 2 512 Mb 667 Mhz
Slot 3 1024 Mb 667 Mhz
Slot 4 512 Mb 667 Mhz

RAM CHIP #1
SNPXG700C/1G

RAM CHIP #2
TWIN2X2048-6400

Also, there’s some reviews stating that even if my max ram can go up to 4, I’ll only end up having 3.5, not sure if this applies to my system…any suggestions?

32-bit Windows operating systems can only use approx. 3 - 3½ GB memory and you already have 3 GB. It would be a waste of time and money to “upgrade” your current memory.

In order for the computer to address more memory you would need to install a 64-bit Windows (or other) operating system instead of Windows Vista Home Basic (32-bit).
