R.I.P. Glenn Frey

Another musical giant passed away today. Glenn Frey was a talented musician and his collaborations with the members of the Eagles are timeless classics. He also didn’t do too bad on his own either. He had a talent for writing great lyrics. Wherever he is I expect he is taking it easy.

“Take It Easy”

Well, I’m running down the road
tryin’ to loosen my load
I’ve got seven women on
my mind,
Four that wanna own me,
Two that wanna stone me,
One says she’s a friend of mine
Take It easy, take it easy
Don’t let the sound of your own wheels
drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
don’t even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand
and take it easy
Well, I’m a standing on a corner
in Winslow, Arizona
and such a fine sight to see
It’s a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed
Ford slowin’ down to take a look at me
Come on, baby, don’t say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is
gonna save me
We may lose and we may win though
we will never be here again
so open up, I’m climbin’ in,
so take it easy
Well I’m running down the road trying to loosen
my load, got a world of trouble on my mind
lookin’ for a lover who won’t blow my
cover, she’s so hard to find
Take it easy, take it easy
don’t let the sound of your own
wheels make you crazy
come on baby, don’t say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is
gonna save me, oh oh oh
Oh we got it easy
We oughta take it easy

The only song I remember of this group is Hotel California

However, the Eagles were a great group of bards (singing stories)

After Eagles bowed out in 1979, I somehow lost contact and only occasionally ran into their solo output during the ‘80s. While I never found them groundbreaking, there is no doubt about the importance of Eagles’ output of the '70s.

R.I.P. :flower:

R.I.P. Glen Frey, I have to say that I am not a big fan of Glenn Frey or the Eagles, but I certainly remember two songs first is this song, mainly because of the Miami Vice TV series, and the second is The heat is on form the Beverly Hills Cop movie.

Lots of memories from the 80’s and some nice songs, I wish I could say the same about the 90’s or the 00’s.

I heard about this on the news this morning over breakfast and couldn’t believe it. A very talented artist and a sad loss to the world indeed.

This is getting crazy though. We’re not even clear of January this year and already we’ve lost three people that were iconic in their respective fields.

I wonder how many more great people/musicians we will lose this year.
There seems to be so few new talents in music appearing these days, then when a few appear, some of them die early. :frowning: Very depressing.
