Quick (silly) question about device buffer on the ND2500A

My question is…

I am just worndering if it is normal when burning a disc at 8x the device buffer on the drive drops down to around 5% for a split second.

The drop in the buffer only occurs when the drive is changing speeds when burning at 8x. (from 4x to 6x and then once from 6x to 8x.)

I have never own a burner before that writes ZCLV. I am guessing that this is normal, but i just wanted to make sure.

The drive pauses the burn to shift speeds, so the drive buffer has to empty.

thanks for the quick reply rdgrimes!

I figured that it was something like that, but just wasnt total sure/

thanks again for clearing that up for me.
