Quick check before I take the plunge

Okay I have read up the threads about crossflashing Philips 1628 to BenQ 1640 so now all I want is to see if I have understood them correctly before I take the plunge.

-Put BQFlasher, firmware and aspi into same folder. Does it matter if the firmware is exe or cvt?
-Start BQF and point it to the firmware. Is BSLB still considered the better firmware or is BSOB better?
-When finished restart PC and I should have a happy little BenQ drive recognised.

all correct, firmware format doesn’t matter.

Is BSLB still considered the better firmware or is BSOB better?
You’ll have to try it out yourself. BSLB is still my favorite.
My drive “dips” and takes a nap 20 times or so when scanning with BSOB.

Well I have the BSLB one at the moment so I will try that first. Thanks chok the format was the one part I was a tad confused about.

Well taken the plunge and everything went smoothly not a single problem. I know have a happy little BenQ 1640.

Just a quick question. Now it is recognised as 1640 can I just use the official firmware exes to upgrade or do I have to use BQF each time?

You can directly use any of the official BenQ 1640 firmwares, since the drive now thinks that it is a real 1640.

Thanks Spart for the info.
